It took us years to convince the landowners to sell us the property with our intentions to preserve it. They were set on selling it for development and could have made a considerable amount more if they had.
The last thing we need here in Florida is more houses! Urban development is taking over our natural landscapes, and the consequences are become dire. Wildlife and wetlands are being sacrificed for an already oversized population.
At first, the landowners wanted all conservation efforts to stop! We were lowering the value of this property by stopping the possibility of development. The reason so much of Florida is succumbing to development is because property developers are paying top dollar.
It took some lengthy convincing, but we were finally able to show the landowners the real value of this land, the true value was in saving it from destruction. They finally understood why we loved it so much and why it was so important to protect. We will be forever grateful!
Protecting and conserving this land will not make us rich. In fact, we will generate no revenue from the preserve. When it is ready to be opened to the public, it will be at no charge. Our return will be knowing that it will remain wild land forever and never be destroyed by development.
It will take funds, equipment and manpower to make the preserve safe and accessible to the public for responsible recreation and educational research. Donations of funds and equipment and the hard work of volunteers will support the future of the preserve and will help with the acquisition of additional lands. If you would like to help, scroll down to find out how.

Development is overtalking the wildlands of our beautiful state! Every day, more trees are torn down, and our wetlands are filled in! The destruction has to STOP! Would you like to help?
Donations will support community recreation here at PSBP as well as land acquisition to increase protected land across the state.
